I spent last weekend in the Detroit area with some friends – we stayed in Rochester, MI, and ended up in Downtown Detroit for only a few hours. Those few hours were enough for the abandonment, blight, and ache of the city to set in. It felt eerie and sad, but with little pockets of hope here and there – Corktown with its strip of cocktail bars and artsy spaces and Willy’s, Shinola, and Motor City Brew Works which had definite big-city vibes going on. One can only hope the city gets the revival it so badly needs.

Well hello, blog world! October if undoubtedly my favorite month of the year, and this one was kind of out-of-this-world. It started with the typical “I love Autumn so I’m going to make a heart out of red leaves” deal and then a lot of things happened, warranting a list.
Running stints: I continued running several miles for training, finished the Twin Cities 10-Mile with a personal best time, and struggled through the Monster Dash Half Marathon (also a personal best, which is laughable considering how difficult this was for me).
Life-changing events: one marriage proposal and a hospital stay for the fiancé.
Halloweening: Pumpkin carving, avoiding scary movies, and dressing up as Edward Scissorhands.
Now that we’re into November, a work audit, the holidays, one million birthdays, and a lot more shows are coming up. Cross your fingers that I can still manage to wedding plan in the midst of all this!
Hellooooo favorite month of the year! Before we move on, let us say goodbye to September. The month involved a musical, a 30th birthday Pedal Pub, lots of flowers, visits to new brewpubs, a visit to the new Parc Edina, a return to outfit posting, a few concerts (not reviewed here, wahh), and a short trip to Duluth to say goodbye to my late dog, Sunflower. The month was a rollercoaster of events and emotions, but that’s life!
Next up: the Twin Cities 10-Mile Race, more concerts, Indeed’s Hullabaloo, a baby shower, a wedding, the Monster Dash Half-Marathon, and some birthday celebrations. All of that on top of a crazy work life. You know those people who say to “stop the glorification of busy?” I want to know…HOW?!
