I’ve never been able to describe just what Beirut is. The music reminds me of a carnival, a marching band, or a sweet street performer with a monkey on his shoulder. Something about this music inspires a glow within me and makes my heart dance. No matter what the lyrical content, each song feels like a love song. Plus, having a trumpet, accordion, ukulele, and trombone thrown into the mix of ordinary instruments is a dead giveaway for me that something has gone terribly right.

“East Harlem” (Surprisingly, there are only two verses and no chorus, but heavy repetition that you don’t quite recognize is repetition right away)
“Scenic World” (both versions)
“Postcards from Italy”
