Though I am uncomfortably allergic to peaches (the fruit), that couldn’t be further from the truth when it comes to this song. The lyric “we won’t live too long, so let’s love for one song” captures the idea that life is fleeting, and each moment should be relished. This synthy-feel-good song has captured the attention of many, giving rise to remixes with artists like Passion Pit and Kele Okereke of Bloc Party. This “dark duet” is reminiscent of The XX; the mixed vocals a force to be reckoned with.
Two weeks ago, I moved into Target Field to attend the All Star Week events. Zeb and I (and a slew of other people) attended the Celebrity All Star Game, Home Run Derby, Pre-Game Party, and All Star Game. It was a magical time for the baseball lover in me, and probably the only time in life it will ever happen. Not technically a style or music post, but more of an I-love-my-life-post.
I love a good lyric video – I found out about this one on Instagram through the person who hand-lettered the video, @duendehandlettering.
The chorus chants, “we dance, we sing, we live, we love, tonight.” It’s a fairly simple, feel-good song, but sometimes that’s all you need.
On 612 Day (June 12), I attended an Instameet hosted by @mamacita.rita. It was a casual meet-up for local IGers who maybe knew each other by handle, but not by actual name or face! I met a bunch of lovely people from Minneapolis who all share a love of community, capturing beautiful moments, and basically, Instagram. You know, the people who won’t judge you for setting up a scene, for taking too many photos, for meeting strangers. See the news story here.
