It’s taken a bit, but the lake has finally frozen over. On Sunday my family gathered to celebrate my parents’ birthdays. We had a Vietnamese meal for brunch, sang Happy Birthday twice, then checked out the lake’s state of frozen-ness. Turns out, it was pretty solid even with the oddly-warm, 40 degree temperature we were experiencing. There were some definite ominous-looking cracks in the ice, but even so we dreamed up future escapades of ice skating and broomball. After our first round of slipping and sliding on the ice, the boyf and I came back out to try it again. Unfortunately, when it was time to take pictures, the sun quickly bid us adieu and left us with a windy, cloudy backdrop. Oh well, I’ve come to terms with the fact that just when I was getting my outfit-posting-butt-in-gear, Minnesota decided to take away the sunlight.

After the ice fun was over, we headed over to the boyf’s brother’s house to piece together two regulation-size hockey nets. We only were able to complete one, but let me tell you – this project is shaping up nicely. I also manned the drill and now I’m dreaming up projects that involve drills and screws and nails, oh my! Oh, and this morning the lake was all puddles and it has started to rain. Seriously Minnesota, where’s le snow?!
Oddly, I’m hoping for another freeze so we can put our nets into action. Hope your day is happy! Byeee!
